09 Oct December Discounts!
Well, with Christmas hurtling towards us faster than you can say, “Santa Claus,” it’s time to start digging deep into the piggy bank for any spare cash in a bid to tackle your shopping list. It’s an expensive time of year for all of us and we know just how it feels to put fun on the back-burner while your wallet attends to more pressing matters.
With that in mind, we thought we’d offer another of our well-known discount deals to help you put the fun back into the festive period and give you the financial freedom to treat yourself to a break away. The Acorn Hotel – our three-star boutique residence – is set between Glasgow’s city centre and West End. You’ll be able to walk to all major attractions and indulge in plenty of retail therapy while you’re at it. Our hotel was originally designed by renowned architect, Alexander “Greek” Thomson, and you’ll find impressive Grecian pillars adorning our doorway and fresh, contemporary décor throughout the interior.
Our offer is valid for all stays at the Acorn Hotel between December 1st and 20th, giving you plenty of wiggle-room in what’s sure to be a busy calendar at this time of year! To book, simply go online direct to our website and enter the code DEC10 at the checkout and your room rate will be automatically reduced. We’ve already given you the lowdown on the Glasgow Loves Christmas official European Markets in our regular blog post, so this time we’re turning our attention to lesser-known shopping opportunities…
Riverside Christmas Fair and Market
Plenty of parking, off the beaten track and a range of exhibits to keep the kids occupied? Check, check and check! The Riverside Museum hosts a weekend Christmas extravaganza on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of December which promises to be well-worth a visit. Expect artisan chocolate-makers, handmade crafts and a food stall or two help you out with that present list.
Art on the Exchange Festive Markets
This regular art fair takes a on a festive twist as sculptors, sketchers and painters alike gather to sell their wares to bargain-hunters. Original work can often be snapped up for a great price (don’t be shy to barter a little, most of the time there’s a pound or two to be saved!) in one of the city’s prettiest settings – Royal Exchange Square. Taking place every weekend from 11am until 6pm, you can take the opportunity to pop to nearby George Sqaure for a glass of Gluhwein before you call it a day.
Our final offering is a Glasgow favourite. Sloans arcade (and pub!) is one of the oldest spots in Glasgow. A cobbled, arched entryway leads to a traditional market square where you’ll find stall-holders touting a range of goods, perfect for last-minute presents or small stocking fillers. Even better, Sloans itself does some of the best mac ‘n’ cheese you’ll find north of the border!
